LDS Day of Service On May 25, 2009 the South East Region of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sponsored a Day of Service. The project for Conway 1st Ward of the North Little Rock Arkansas Stake was to do repairs and improvements for the Southern Christian Home, as well as to build an access ramp for an elderly sister. About 25 brethren met in Conway for breakfast and a prayer before beginning their service. Click on thumbnail for larger view. |

| Many of the youth stayed in Conway to build the access ramp. I wasn’t with this group so I have no pictures of their project. | |
| SCH has a farm with a lake that they use for the youth, both for recreation and teaching. | |
| A few views of the lake | |
| Here you can see the boat and paddle boats that are sometimes used. | |
| I am told it also has excellent fishing opportunities. | |
| This is the new boat house that we came to finish. | |
| The inside is completely unfinished. Today's work consisted of finishing the electrical, insulating the walls and hanging sheetrock. | |
| Beginning construction on the deck. | |
| Pen where the children will learn to handle horses, before the sanding and painting. | |
| Supplies for building a fence. | |
| SCH also owns this house which was in need of a new roof. | |
| The gray part is the original roof. | |

What is Southern Christian Home? Southern Christian Home is a children's home that cares for school-age children through high school. Typically, the children are neglected and abused physically, sexually, and emotionally. Children are taken into our program with the initial intentions to provide them the spiritual nurture they deserve. As they receive this care, they are provided the food, shelter, and love they have lacked. Our children usually become our missionaries after obeying the gospel. Dedicated houseparents are the main reason we are so successful in serving all the children's needs effectively. |
